Neem Oil has many advantages for common problems in the body.  It’s a vegetable oil squeezed from the fruits and seeds of the neem, which is an evergreen tree, and should be applied topically for the following ailments.  It treats fungal infections, dry skin, acne, dandruff, skin disorders, lice, gingivitis, dry scalp, premature greying of the hair as well as red, irritated skin. St. John’s Wort

St. John’s Wort

Depression could get really bad, really fast and it’s best to control it right away to avoid other health problems.  St. John’s Wort is an herb that is prescribed all over the world to treat mild to moderate depression in children and adults.  Be careful if you’re using birth control pills because it could make them less effective.  It could also interfere with other medications so ask a doctor before starting a St. John’s Wort regimen.

Green Tea Extract

Green Tea Extract is an herb that is talked a lot about because it aids in losing weight. Being overweight is the most common problem in the US and could lead to other serious health problems.  Green Tea Extract increases the body’s ability to stimulate fat burning and increase metabolism.

Don’t get this confused with regular Green Tea. There are similarities, but they’re different. Green Tea Extract is the concentrated or condensed form of green tea. This means that the tea’s leaves are placed in a solvent like alcohol or water with steam and then left to dry, which then leaves the leftover extract.  They both contain the same essential nutrients though.

It could be dropped in tea or added to food.  Many people like to add it to soups.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is very commonly used for many ailments.  These aliments that this herb could alleviate are arthritis, small skin abrasions like burns, and to treat sunburns.  It has to be applied topically to ease skin problems. Topical Aloe Vera has no side effects and in my opinion is a must have herb for kitchens and warm weather gardens.

Ginseng

Ginseng is an important herbal health component and could be used to prevent fatigue, to improve cognitive function, provides energy, and has anti-inflammatory effects.  It’s great for cancer patients who experience fatigue.  It is also know to prevent cancer from happening, reduce stress, treat diabetes, and helps men with erectile dysfunction.

Stinging Nettle

Stinging Nettle is a healing herb that could be taken in tea and it’s available as an extract, dried leaf, and freeze dried leaf.  It helps aid in combating inflammation by reducing the levels of inflammatory chemicals in the body. So, in turn, it interferes with the way the body transmits pain signals and, therefore, how the body makes inflammation.  This herb is great for relieving pain in joints and muscles, arthritis, gout, and for anemia.

This article is not intended to be a substitution for medical advice, and on the contrary I recommend you consult your doctor or nurse practitioner  any time you plan to add a regimen of herbs to your plan.  There are many food and medication interactions that one needs to consider before starting a new herbal health program.  They will advise you regarding what to look for and what combinations to avoid.  The doctors shouldn’t be avoided because symptoms could mean something more serious and it’s best to know exactly what’s wrong before starting any kind of herbal regimen.

Herbal health is a wonderful thing and herbs are nature’s gift to us. We should use herbs to our advantage without turning automatically to chemical pharmaceutical drugs as first choice.  If problems in the body are managed soon, then they’re more likely to be healed.  Most health problems are preventable and they should be managed as soon as possible and these, and other herbs, could heal the body the natural way.  Enjoy nature and it’s abundance of goodness.  It made these herbs naturally and our bodies need natural things to function to its full capacity and prolong a healthy life.
